About Trango
For more than three decades, Trango has helped shape modern climbing through innovative climbing equipment, industry-leading climbing holds, and trusted products used by climbers, routesetters, and climbing gyms around the world.
Headquartered in Lafayette, Colorado, Trango designs equipment for nearly every facet of climbing—from indoor climbing and bouldering to sport, trad, alpine, mountaineering, and commercial routesetting. Our product line includes ropes, harnesses, belay devices, carabiners, protection, crash pads, training equipment, routesetting tools, and one of the industry's most comprehensive collections of climbing holds.
Whether you're building a commercial climbing gym, setting a World Climbing competition, creating movement on a home wall, learning to belay, or pursuing big objectives in the mountains, our goal is the same: to design dependable equipment that inspires confidence, encourages progression, and helps make every climbing experience better.
Everything we create is guided by the same philosophy: thoughtful design, uncompromising safety, and a genuine passion for climbing. We believe great equipment should disappear beneath the experience—allowing climbers and routesetters to focus on what matters most: the movement, the challenge, and the joy of climbing.
Trango takes its name from the Great Trango Towers in Pakistan—one of the world's most iconic granite climbing destinations. Known for soaring walls, technical routes, and legendary first ascents, the Trango Towers have come to represent commitment, ingenuity, and the pioneering spirit that has inspired generations of climbers.
That same spirit guides everything we design. We believe great equipment should inspire confidence, solve real problems, and help climbers pursue their own objectives—whether that's your first day in the gym, unlocking a long-term project, or standing beneath a mountain you've dreamed about for years.
Trango is headquartered in Lafayette, Colorado, just outside Boulder and at the heart of one of North America's most influential climbing communities. Surrounded by world-class climbing, mountain terrain, and a culture of innovation, it's the ideal place to design, test, and refine equipment for climbers around the world.
Designing products in Colorado keeps us connected to the people who use them. From local climbing gyms and Front Range crags to alpine objectives throughout the Rocky Mountains, our team develops and tests equipment in the environments it was built for—gathering real-world feedback that shapes every generation of Trango gear.
Trango was founded in 1991 and has spent more than three decades helping shape modern climbing through thoughtfully designed equipment.
What began with technical climbing hardware has grown into one of the industry's most comprehensive climbing brands. Today, Trango designs ropes, harnesses, belay devices, carabiners, climbing holds, routesetting equipment, training tools, crash pads, and technical accessories trusted by climbers, commercial climbing gyms, and routesetters around the world.
While our product line has evolved alongside the sport, our purpose has remained the same: to create equipment that inspires confidence, solves real problems, and helps people enjoy climbing at every level—from their first day in the gym to ambitious objectives in the mountains.
Every climbing company builds gear. We focus on building equipment that solves real problems.
Our products are developed with input from climbers, guides, athletes, routesetters, gym owners, and mountain professionals who depend on their equipment every day. Their experience shapes every stage of the design process—from materials and ergonomics to durability, usability, and long-term performance.
Rather than chasing trends, we focus on thoughtful design, practical innovation, and equipment that earns its place through reliable performance—day after day, season after season.
Trango products are designed in Lafayette, Colorado, in collaboration with climbers, routesetters, gym owners, guides, athletes, and industry professionals around the world.
Every product begins with a real climbing challenge. Through hands-on testing, athlete and setter feedback, engineering, and decades of climbing experience, we refine each design to perform where it matters most. Whether it's a rope, harness, belay device, climbing hold, or routesetting tool, our goal is the same: to create equipment that's intuitive, dependable, and built to make climbing better.
By staying closely connected to the climbing community—from commercial climbing gyms and home walls to local crags and alpine environments—we design products that solve real problems, support progression, and help climbers and routesetters get the most out of every session.
