The Smarter Way to Make Chalk

Most chalk starts in a mine.
REAL Chalk starts in seawater.

Magnesium is recovered from desalination brine, refined into ultra-pure MgCO₃, and finished for climbing performance—not industrial use.

Better absorption

Higher purity magnesium carbonate pulls moisture faster and keeps hands dry longer.

Finer coverage

Ultra-fine particles coat your skin more evenly, including fingertips and creases.

Less chalk per session

Because it works better, you use less. Bags last longer. Holds stay cleaner.

Consistent performance

No fillers. No rosin. No variability from batch to batch.

Most companies treat chalk like a commodity. We don’t.

Trango® REAL™ Chalk starts with pharmaceutical-grade magnesium recovered from seawater desalination—not mined magnesite pulled out of the ground and crushed.

That difference matters.

How Desalination Works

Seawater is pulled in offshore and filtered to remove sand and organic material. From there, it’s pushed through reverse-osmosis membranes that separate clean freshwater from salts and minerals.

The freshwater goes one way. The minerals go another.

That mineral stream—called brine—is rich in magnesium. Instead of treating it as waste, the magnesium is recovered and refined into high-purity magnesium carbonate.

Same desalination system; two useful outputs. Cleaner water and better chalk—without digging more out of the ground.
