OUR COMMITMENT

BACK IN 1996

We established eGrips, now known as Trango Holds, in a nondescript garage in North Boulder. At that time, we were struggling with brittle, slippery Polyethylene holds (PE). Frustrated with the status quo, we made a daring choice: Polyurethane (PU), the same material used on nuclear submarine nose cones.

This groundbreaking innovation reshaped the climbing world, attracting
a dedicated underground following. However, as a small team, keeping the dream alive was an uphill battle. The original holds, once revolutionary, ended up buried behind CATS Gymnastics under a trampoline—marking the quiet end of one chapter but the spark of something much bigger.

IN 2021

We embraced our history and rebranded everything Trango. To reflect our belief that every form of climbing matters and that our communities are diverse in the type of climbing they enjoy.

Trango’s goal is to provide gear and holds for the ultimate climbing experience. By investing in innovation and expertise, we are shaping the future of climbing.
