Harness Fit

Features matter.
Fit matters more.

A harness should sit securely above the hips, allow full movement and keep the belay loop centered. Measurements are the starting point—not a substitute for checking the complete fit.

Start with waist measurement.

Measure where the harness waistband will actually sit, generally above the hip bones.

Check leg-loop range.

Fixed loops prioritize simplicity and low bulk. Adjustable loops accommodate layers, changing conditions and a wider range of leg dimensions.

Check rise and centering.

Waist and leg measurements can both be correct while the relationship between them still feels wrong. Compare harness geometries when necessary.

Weight the harness.

Hanging exposes pressure points that standing in a harness cannot. Whenever possible, test the harness under load before committing to the fit.
